As a result of the June 17, 2024 public notice regarding sidewalk repairs and tree removal in Downtown BIA, City of Orillia contractors will begin mobilization on August 19, 2024.

The work will involve removing trees and then repairing the pavers and is expected to take about six weeks. The work will be carried out in several phases. First, the trees will be removed, then tree stumps will be removed and the pavers will be levelled. As a final phase, the pavers will be repaired.

The work route is as follows as shown on the map:

  • Start on the north side of Mississaga Street West, at Albert Street.
  • The crew will travel east toward Front Street North.
  • Cross Front Street North to the south side of Mississaga Street East.
  • The crew will travel west towards Albert Street.

The contractors for this project are Forest Ridge Landscaping and Outdoor Decor.

Please be aware that there may be minor disruption to pedestrian, vehicular and public transit traffic. Advisories regarding impacts to public transit in Orillia will be issued as needed during construction. The City of Orillia is making every effort to limit disruption, including working around downtown business hours where possible. It is not anticipated that any businesses or restaurants will need to close to allow the work to occur.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout the project.
