NYPD: 2 people wanted for questioning in connection with suspected debit card theft at New Dorp supermarket

STATEN ISLAND, NY — The NYPD is searching for two people who allegedly distracted a customer while paying for her groceries and then took her debit card from the reader.

The grand larceny occurred in New Dorp, 2754 Hylan Blvd., police said.

Police received a report that a 65-year-old woman was paying for her groceries around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, when she was distracted by an unidentified adult male and an unidentified adult female subsequently allegedly pulled her debit card from the card reader.

The two people then allegedly withdrew around $921 from an ATM, police said.

The Stop & Shop supermarket is located at the address provided by the police.

The man is described as having a heavy build and light skin. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a yellow button-down shirt and grey shorts.

The woman is described as being of medium height and light skin. She was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black shirt, black pants and a black handbag.
