Theodore Edward Drake

BATH – Theodore Edward Drake of Bath, died Thursday, August 15, 2024. He was born November 18, 1924, in Mankato, Minnesota.

Ted married the love of his life, Sharon Drake, in June 1984. She is survived by daughters Laurie Lane of Long Beach, California, Joan Durham (Jim) of Ardmore, Pennsylvania, and Sandra Fish of Bath; son Curtis Fish (Jenny Burch) of Woolwich; brother Clifford Drake (Geeta) of Georgetown, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Ted graduated from Stanford University (bachelor’s and medical degrees) and worked for many years in Southern California as an obstetrician and gynecologist. Ted loved delivering babies and performing surgeries. He was popular with his patients and respected by his colleagues. For a time, he served as chief of staff at the Methodist Hospital of Southern California.

Ted and Sharon moved to Bath after his retirement and enjoyed many trips and cruises together. He loved to travel! Ted had a beautiful singing voice and sang in the International Men’s Chorus while serving in WWII. He was an avid Scrabble player, easily beating all family members and enjoyed playing Scrabble every week with other Scrabble-loving friends. He also loved scuba diving and fishing. Ted was kind, generous and outgoing. His motto was ‘be kind’ and he lived his motto. Ted was a blessing to all who knew him.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. Online condolences may be left at http://www.DaigleFuneralHome.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Ted’s memory to the American Red Cross.
