Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, August 16, 2024 – Ohio Ag Net

We’ll see scattered showers over the next few days as a frontal front moves through the state. The best rain potential in terms of totals will be today. However, as the low pressure over Michigan and the Great Lakes continues to weaken, we’ll see a long-drawn-out scenario of scattered showers tomorrow and into Sunday. As you can see on the map below, we’re still expecting 2-3/4-inches of rain potential across the state today through Sunday.

A drier pattern is emerging or returning for next week. Temperatures will remain warm and humidity will be elevated. However, we won’t see any significant precipitation Monday through Friday. We may have to expect some brief showers over the weekend, but they will be very limited. A very impressive heat dome will also form in the southern Plains during the second half of next week. While we don’t expect this type of heat to fully move into the eastern Corn Belt, any spread late next week should raise our temperatures slightly above normal levels during the last week of the month. If we don’t see any significant rains before this burst of warmth, we will likely see some impacts on crops. The way the pattern is currently shaping up, we are definitely trending toward more dryness for the latter part of August into early September.
