The Ohio State Buckeyes are one of the strongest contenders for the national championship in the country as they enter the 2024 college football season.
On paper, they appear to be the most talented team in the country, and if they play to their full potential, they should have a good chance of bringing another title to Columbus.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, the Big Ten has another major competitor. The Oregon Ducks are expected to be a very good football team and are without a doubt the biggest threat to Ohio State in the conference.
However, there is another team that emerges as a potential threat.
Joel Klatt, a college football analyst, believes the Buckeyes’ archrivals, the Michigan Wolverines, will be the next big threat in 2024.
“That’s why Michigan is the biggest threat to the top two teams. It doesn’t matter who’s left because they believe they’re the biggest threat. They believe they’re the kings of the hill. They believe the conference goes through them.”
Of course, Michigan has experienced plenty of drama this offseason. They may even be facing some sort of postseason ban, and head coach Sherrone Moore is under fire as well.
Despite all the drama, Ohio State still has to deal with Michigan. They have lost the last three meetings between the two teams. That has to change for the Buckeyes this season.
Ryan Day and his team are under a lot of pressure given the high expectations placed on Ohio State. The team must focus and play its best every week. No game is to be taken for granted.
That being said, it will be interesting to see how the 2024 season unfolds.
If the Buckeyes play to their potential, focus on each game, and let their talent do the talking, they should win at a very high level. Both Oregon and Michigan will pose a threat, but Ohio State appears to be the better team on paper.
Hopefully they can prove their potential on paper on the pitch.
