Ohio State Buckeyes contract upgraded to most promising player in the country

There is a new top football recruit in America.

And he has committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Bellefontaine (Ohio) quarterback Tavien St. Clair has earned the award as the country’s best young player in Rivals’ updated rankings.

The recruiting site shared a video of St. Clair learning of his new ranking during a meeting with his teammates:

“St. Clair, after seeing him in multiple events this offseason, offers perhaps the best combination of physical ability and overall potential when looking at this elite quarterback group,” Rivals wrote. “There’s no doubt about his physical stature, a classic pocket-style passer frame, and his modern athletic traits. His multi-sport background allows for a strong arm with multiple angles as needed and a mechanically smooth throw. Ohio State’s commitment is among the safest bets in the class, but it also seems like there’s plenty of room for improvement here.”

The 6’4″ and 225lb signal-giver has seen his share price soar across the industry over the past 18 months.

“This is a very entertaining example of someone who has a meteoric rise in the world of recruiting,” said Greg Smith of Rivals. “We’ve heard the talk about the Ohio State quarterback who has stayed loyal to his small school despite many prospects wanting him to play elsewhere. But hearing about a 6-foot-4, 220-pound quarterback with all the tools and seeing him in person are two different things.”

How does the new ranking compare to other sites?

247Sports ranks St. Clair as the second-best junior player in the country, while On3 and ESPN have him ranked 15th.

As a junior, St. Clair threw for 3,983 yards with 37 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, as well as 352 yards and 4 scores on the ground.

Overall, Ohio State’s recruiting class ranks first nationally.
