The Ohio State Buckeyes haven’t won a national championship in a decade, but that drought could soon be coming to an end.
Ohio State has arguably the most talented roster in the country for 2024 and is currently ranked second in the AP Top 25 poll, trailing only the Georgia Bulldogs.
On the latest edition of The Joel Klatt Show, Klatt announced his 12-team playoff roster for this year and his predictions will have Ohio State fans excited.
Klatt sees the Buckeyes finishing No. 1 and beating Big Ten rival Penn State Nittany Lions in the quarterfinals. He then picks Ohio State to beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the semifinals and then beat the Texas Longhorns to win the national championship.
Klatt says he just doesn’t believe Texas will be able to beat Ohio State, especially after the tough playoff games beforehand.
He adds that he has believed for some time that the Buckeyes are the best team in the country and should be able to win the whole thing.
Ohio State fans are hungry for a championship, while Columbus has been plagued by disappointment for much of the last decade.
The last few seasons have been particularly disappointing, as the Buckeyes have lost three straight games to their arch-rival Michigan Wolverines and also suffered a crushing loss to the Missouri Tigers in last year’s Cotton Bowl.
We’ll see if Ohio State can finally put all this behind them in 2024.
