Ohio State could sign an interesting offensive lineman in 2025

It’s safe to say that Ohio State Buckeyes fans are growing increasingly frustrated with offensive line coach Justin Frye. Not only did his unit have a down year last season, but there were several major recruiting failures.

Even if a commitment would not forgive everything, there is a chance of making a little amends on Saturday.

Four-star offensive lineman Jayvon McFadden is set to officially announce his commitment and the Buckeyes appear to be in the lead.

The 6-foot-5, 295-pound recruit recently reviewed his June visit with Bucknuts.

“I don’t want to give it a 10, that would be too cliche,” McFadden explained. “So I’ll say 9. But Ohio State is my leader. I feel good about Ohio State and they feel good about me.”

McFadden chooses between the Buckeyes, Maryland Terrapins, South Carolina Gamecocks and Colorado Buffaloes.

With things seeming to be trending toward Ohio State, this could be a good sign. While McFadden isn’t the high-profile recruit that David Sanders Jr. was and is, he offers versatility. He played left tackle in his junior season of high school football, but also has the potential to play inside.

He is currently the 29th ranked offensive lineman in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings and the 31st ranked interior offensive lineman in the On3 industry rankings.

If the Buckeyes do indeed sign McFadden on the 24th, he will be the third offensive line signing in the 2025 class.

Frye and the Buckeyes need this.
