Ohio State Football 2024 Player Rating

Urban Meyer put it succinctly: Ohio State doesn’t have much competition entering the 2024 season.

“Their schedule is almost a joke to begin with,” Meyer said on “The Triple Option” podcast. “I mean, they’re going to be 50-point favorites in the first three games. They’ve got a week off and then they play Michigan State, which is a shadow of its former self right now.”

Ohio State has four matchups with teams that began the 2024 season in the AP Top 25: No. 25 Iowa at home, No. 3 Oregon on the road, No. 8 Penn State on the road and No. 9 Michigan at home.

But the Buckeyes’ 2024 schedule appears to be one of the simplest in college football.

What is Ohio State’s schedule for 2024?

According to ESPN’s 2024 preseason Football Power Index rankings, Ohio State’s average opponent is nearly the 58th best in the country, better than only Kansas, Miami, Notre Dame and North Carolina State.

Southern California’s average opponent is ranked 37th in the country in 2024.

While the Trojans also lead the Big Ten in playing strength, Ohio State has the third easiest schedule in the conference after Rutgers and Indiana.

According to DraftKings, Ohio State has the second-best odds to win the 2024 College Football Playoff national championship at +380. The Buckeyes have the best odds to make the CFP at -650 and a +155 chance to win the Big Ten.
