Ohio State University quarterback receives title of “most overrated player”

Last week, head coach Ryan Day officially announced that Will Howard would be the starting quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Although many expected this, there was still a chance it could be someone else. Now, even though the job is set, people still have their doubts.

Ryan Roberts of A to Z Sports recently listed the most overrated players in college football for each position, and Roberts had Will Howard selected for the quarterback position.

Roberts went on to say that after the end of his season at Kansas State, the Wildcats decided to let Howard go and start a new era of football with Avery Johnson.

During his final season at Kansas State, Howard threw for over 2,600 yards and 24 touchdowns, making him the school’s record-holder for passing touchdowns with 48 total.

In Roberts’ defense, he has stated that “the word ‘overrated’ can have a very negative connotation, and that’s understandable. It doesn’t mean a player isn’t good. It just means the hype doesn’t quite match up with the on-field performance right now.”

Although he is not saying that Will Howard is not good, Buckeyes fans cannot help but be frustrated. Of course, there is a lot of hype surrounding Will Howard, and rightly so. Howard has not only one of the most successful trainers by his side, but also leads arguably one of the best teams college football has ever seen.

But as all football fans know, only time will tell if Howard will live up to expectations.
