Okeechobee Justice Center closed after water pipe burst

The Okeechobee Justice Center is temporarily closed due to a water main break Monday morning.

The Okeechobee County government announced that the county justice center is closed until further notice due to a burst water main.

Officials said this affects all court-related activities. Those who were scheduled to appear in court should still plan to come to the courthouse on N Parrot Avenue. Upon arrival, officials will announce a new court date.

Court fees, traffic fines, or other financial obligations with a payment deadline can still be paid because someone is available at the center to process the payments. In addition, online payments can be made through the Okeechobee County Clerk’s website.

Anyone who has to submit court applications by August 12th does not need to worry. There is an employee at the Justice Center who will accept applications submitted on time.

The district government said it would provide updates as soon as they were available.
