The United States is knocking on the door of an Olympic medal and a place in the final for the first time since 2008 in Beijing, but it faces a tough test in Serbia. The two-time defending champions have won four medals in four Olympic appearances but also suffered three losses at the 2024 Games, including an 8-3 loss to Australia in their second Group B match.

Team USA reached this point with an 11-10 victory over Australia in the quarterfinals, which the Americans finished with a 4-3 victory in the shootout. Hannes Daub and Alex Bowen each scored two goals in the win.
