In 2009, actors Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan appeared together in an episode of filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan’s talk show Tere Mere Beach Mein. Recently, a clip from the interview was shared on Reddit, in which Kangana recalled how she was told she didn’t look like Rani Mukerji or Preity Zinta. What did Kangana Ranaut say?
Looking at his alleged ex-girlfriend, Hrithik Roshan had said in the old interview, “Main audition ke liye jaati thi toh mujhe kehte the ki ‘Tumhare baal curly kyun hai? Rani Mukerji ke baal dekho, bilkul curly.’ nahi hai’ (When I went for auditions, I was asked why I have curly hair, unlike Rani, who doesn’t have curly hair.)
She added, “Phir maine socha baal straight kara lete hai, toh phir uske baad kehte the ki ‘Tumhe dimple kyun nahi hai, Preity Zinta ko dimple hai’ (Then I thought maybe I should get my hair straightened. But then I was told that unlike Preity, I don’t have dimples). So basically I realised that you can’t be someone else.”
How does Reddit react to her old interview?
A clip of Kangana’s interview was recently shared by a Redditor who wrote, “Once upon a time she was normal and beautiful (heart eyes emoji)… She was treated harshly by the industry, no doubt about that. Her current toxic nature is like a defence mechanism because of that. PS: The way Hrithik looks at her…”
The actors have often made headlines with their public feud. Hrithik had filed a complaint against Kangana for calling him her “stupid ex” in an interview in 2016.
Reacting to the recent Reddit post, one person commented, “Find someone who looks at you the way Hrithik looks at Kangana.” Another wrote, “Innocent people are often ruined by this exploitative world.” Another comment read, “She was so innocent and honest.”
Someone wrote, “I miss that era of Kangana so much.” A fan also wrote about Kangana, “She was stunning back then. When you watch her first few films you suddenly realise how beautiful she used to look, my god.”
Upcoming works
On Monday, Kangana launched the first song, Singhasan Khali Karo, from her upcoming political drama Emergency, which she has also directed. The actress-politician’s upcoming film also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair and the late Satish Kaushik in important roles.
The film is set during the 1975 Emergency period and stars Kangana as former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. After a long delay, the film is now scheduled to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
