In a move that came as a surprise to some in the ONE PIECE Card Game community, the Enies Lobby card from Pillars of Strength (OP-03) was named as one of two cards that will no longer be allowed in tournament play in Japan and Asia-Pacific starting September 1, 2024. While not everyone agreed that Enies Lobby was a truly “broken” card, it was clearly one of the most dominant cards in the metagame – dominant enough to prompt BANDAI to take action.
About Enies Lobby (Pillars of Strength (OP-03) OP03-098)
Stage cards, especially those with the rarity “Common,” almost never attract much interest. However, since this card has been banned from tournament decks, its reputation is probably better now. Only six other cards from the ONE PIECE Card Game are banned from tournaments. This exceptionally rare status will likely cause interested buyers to rush to this card.
Enies Lobby, the in-universe headquarters of the Cipher Pol Organization CP9, was also the setting for one of the most important storylines in the One Piece manga. The storyline also included one of the most iconic scenes in the entire manga in chapter 398. As such, those who follow the manga closely might be drawn to this map – especially after the increased publicity that the map’s ban brought.
