Oobit partners with Tezos Foundation to launch iOS app that enables one-tap XTZ payments

Oobita well-known crypto payment platform, has announced a strategic partnership with the Tezos Foundation. This collaboration integrates Tezos’ native token $XTZ into Oobit’s payment system and allows users to make tap payments with $XTZ at any Visa or Mastercard terminal worldwide. This represents a significant step forward in making cryptocurrencies more accessible and practical for everyday use.

Tezos is an open-source blockchain platform known for its community-driven governance and focus on long-term upgradability. The platform’s ability to self-improve and its emphasis on formal verification make it a robust and secure choice for integration with Oobit’s growing payment solutions. With this integration, Oobit users can now leverage the Tezos network for fast and low-cost transactions, improving their overall experience with digital assets.

Oobit’s Tap & Pay feature, which now supports $XTZ, allows users to easily make payments at any Visa and Mastercard terminal worldwide. This integration is part of Oobit’s broader strategy to bridge the gap between traditional financial systems and the emerging world of blockchain technology. The platform aims to provide real-world applications for cryptocurrencies and make digital assets more practical and accessible for everyday purchases.

Siddharth Singhal, Head of Business Development at Trilitech, which focuses on advancing the Tezos ecosystem, emphasized the importance of this partnership: “Partnering with Oobit represents an important milestone as we work toward greater global adoption of the Tezos token. This collaboration not only expands our reach through Oobit’s easy on- and off-ramp experience on Web3, but also reinforces our commitment to driving innovation and accessibility in the decentralized future of the web. Opening up NFC and secure asset access to developers opens up exciting opportunities in the roadmap ahead!”

The partnership also includes the integration of the Tezos network for deposits and withdrawals on the Oobit platform. This feature provides Oobit users with the security and efficiency of Tezos’ self-correcting protocol, which has been in operation since 2018. By leveraging Tezos, Oobit continues to ensure that its users can conduct secure and efficient transactions in digital assets.

Amram Adar, CEO of Oobit, commented on the collaboration as follows: “Our collaboration with the Tezos Foundation represents a significant step forward in our mission to make cryptocurrencies a mainstream payment method. Not only are we expanding our payment options, but we are also ensuring our users have access to one of the most secure and innovative blockchains available today.”

The $10 bonus

In addition to integrating $XTZ, Oobit has also launched its mobile app for iOS users following the successful launch of its Tap & Pay feature for Android in 2023. This expansion expands the accessibility of Oobit’s services and makes cryptocurrency payments available to a wider audience. To celebrate this milestone, Oobit is offering a $10 welcome bonus for the first Tap payment made by new verified users through the iOS app. This incentive is designed to encourage users to explore cryptocurrency payments and integrate digital assets into their daily financial routines.

The launch of the iOS app follows a recent social media announcement from Oobit, drawing a connection between their new app and the energy of Manchester United’s game.

Oobit’s cryptocurrency in-app payment feature is currently available for both Android and iOS users in the European Union, with plans to expand to other regions including Asia and Latin America in the near future.
