Opening ceremony for the new extension of Ohio State University

The Ohio State University Extension Highland County held a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Highland County Chamber of Commerce and community members on Friday, August 9, to celebrate its new building and location.

The new OSU Extension building is located at 526 John Street, Hillsboro, at the Highland County Fairgrounds. The building is also used for events, educational programs and activities hosted by Highland County OSU Extension throughout the year.

Dr. Cathann A. Kress, Vice President for Agricultural Administration and Dean of the School of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University, was present at the dedication of the new building.

“This celebration is really about the community and the close partnerships that all come together to ensure the future continues to be bright,” Kress said. “OSU Extension has impacted 2.5 million people in Ohio with meaningful educational programs.”

Funding for this project came from a variety of sources, including the Highland County general fund and a previous state capital budget.

Other speakers at the event included: Jeff McCutcheon, Ohio State University Extension director of operations; David T. Daniels, Highland County Commissioner; Kathy Bruynis, Highland County Extension 4-H educator; Jeff Parry, Highland County Extension Advisory Committee Chair; Ken Davis, Highland County Extension Fundraising Committee Chair; and Mark Baldwin, Highland County Senior Fair Board President.
