OVO 40 predicts delay in January 6 release of Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy” in old clip

It goes without saying that the attack on the Capitol on January 6 was an important moment in American history. However, according to Noah “40” Shebib, it may have also influenced the release of one of Drake’s albums. In an old clip featuring Drizzy’s frequent collaborator, he talks about the 2020 election and predicts there would be chaos if Biden won. For this reason, he said he would advise Drake to postpone the release of Certified Loverboy.

“I think it’s almost musically better if Trump wins, because then life just goes on as we know it now, as horrible as that is,” 40 says in the clip. “But if Biden wins, Trump has six weeks to get out of the White House. If Trump takes his time getting out of the White House, those six weeks where he pardons all his guys, packs up his things and leaves damn Washington? That’s going to be the craziest shit we’ve ever seen. And it could go wrong.”

40 discusses Drake’s album and the 2020 elections

“Putting out an album in six weeks is crazy to me,” he added. “The attention that all this shit is getting is so serious and of great importance, and it’s going to be a pretty serious time in American history… I really don’t want to get in the way of that.” Weeks after the attack on the Capitol on January 6, Drake announced on social media that the release of Certified Loverboy would be pushed back.

At the time, he told fans that “between surgery and rehab, his energy was dedicated to recovery.” It was finally released a few months later in September 2021. What do you think about 40 seemingly predicting that the January 6 attack on the Capitol will impact Drake’s Certified Loverboy in a resurfaced clip?
