It was an edifying visit.
The hosting service behind the official website of Oyster Bay, Long Island, was hacked over the weekend and visitors interested in the town were redirected to an online store offering alternatives to Viagra.
“Cheap place to buy Viagra” is the ad for those who searched the Internet for the town of Oyster Bay.
The visitors had a lot of fun with this chaos.
“I know oysters are aphrodisiacs, but this is ridiculous,” commented one Reddit user.
“This is pretty much the only cheap thing in Oyster Bay,” joked another.
“Your tax money is being used, ladies and gentlemen,” commented another person.
A city spokesperson told The Post that its website’s domain provider, Flywheel, was hacked and not Oyster Bay’s website, which was back up and running normally on Monday.
“It was not an internal (security) issue,” said Oyster Bay spokesman Brian Nevin.
“There was no interference with our system, server or site,” Nevin added.
Flywheel did not respond to repeated requests for comment from The Post.
