Patrick Mahomes says we have Taylor Swift to thank for Travis Kelce’s new head of hair.
In an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio on August 13, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback explained that he’s been trying for ages to convince his buddy Kelce to stop cutting his hair so short and bald every week – and that while he was never able to convince him, the tight end’s girlfriend managed to do it in no time.
“I tried to get him to grow his hair, and all of a sudden Taylor makes him do it,” Mahomes jokingly complained during his radio appearance on Tuesday (via People).
While Kelce is usually seen with fairly short hair, he showed up at football training camp in July with his annual mustache, but this time with a much longer fade mustache – that is, his hair is fuller on top, but lower down on his head he is shaved.
Even if Mahomes’ statement is true, the fact that Swift made Kelce grow his hair longer doesn’t mean she didn’t like his short hair.
Patrick Regan, the NFL professional’s loyal hairdresser, spoke to Fox News a few months ago (before Kelce had longer hair) and told the outlet, “Taylor loves the haircut. She’s watched me cut his hair several times and always compliments me afterward.”
Hairstyling isn’t the only area where Swift seems to have exerted her strong influence on Kelce – a few months into their romance, the tight end suddenly filed for a whole bunch of trademarks. Fans immediately speculated that Swift had spoken to him about it, because she is, quite frankly, the trademark queen: she has dozens of trademarks to her name, including all of her album titles, her own name, the names of her tours, etc. etc.
We’re a little starved for Sweeper content right now, with Kelce in training camp in Missouri and Swift in Europe on the Eras Tour. I can’t wait to see Blondie at Arrowhead Stadium in the fall!
