The New England Patriots started training camp with cautious optimism.

After a failed experiment with Mac Jones, the Patriots decided to start over with their quarterback team and drafted Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick.

Maye was already considered a promising candidate before the draft, but he also seemed to be a good fit for the Patriots, who he wanted to help with their future rebuild.

So far, he has had some ups and downs and fans began to worry about whether things would work out for him.

However, a recent update from a Patriots insider could allay their fears.

As Greg Bedard reported of Gregg Rosenthal, “I can’t stress enough how different Maye has looked since his successful outing against the Eagles’ reserve players.”

While Maye looked a bit shaky in his first warm-up game, he managed to improve in his second appearance.

He certainly wasn’t perfect, but with confidence you can go very far in this sport.

Bedard seems to believe Maye is in much better shape now than he was a few weeks ago, which could potentially pave his way into the regular season.

Of course, the Patriots have not yet announced their starter for Week 1, so it remains to be seen who will be the focus in their season opener.

This team has been rebuilding since the departure of Tom Brady and has seemingly looked everywhere for a new quarterback.

Will Maye be the player they made him out to be?
