Mr. Paul Wayne Jackson Sr., age 77, Kingston, TN, passed away on August 17, 2024. Paul Wayne Jackson Sr. was born on June 22, 1947 in Greasy Creek (Harlan County), Kentucky, to Raleigh Jackson and Thelma Mae Jackson.

Paul’s life was hard. Living in a small rural area of ​​Kentucky, he was constantly working on the farm or helping his parents with the housework. Over time, Paul’s siblings helped him and his parents with the housework, taking care of the livestock, harvesting food, and doing many other tasks. Paul was very proud to be the big brother to his four siblings and often talked about how he would love to see his Kentucky home the way it was 60 years ago, with all the people who had come and gone during that time.

Paul proudly served in the United States Navy and was a Navy Seabee “Can Do!” during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of E-4 Petty Officer Second Class. He always talked to his family about his service in the Seabees and the many memories and friends he made along the way.

Paul was also a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #917 in Knoxville, Tennessee for over 45 years. He recently received his 45 year service pin in 2023. He was very proud to be in the union and often spoke about how blessed he was to have had such a great work family and so many great memories during his 45 years at sites such as K-25, BNFL, Bull Run, Kingston Steam Plant and many others.

Paul and his family attended Bethel Presbyterian Church in Kingston, Tennessee. He was a Freemason and Shriner and a member of Nolen Masonic Lodge No. 806 F. & AM in Bledsoe, Kentucky.

Paul’s parents, Raleigh Jackson and Thelma Mae Jackson, died before him.

His children: Liz Shillings (Monty), Amy Wyatt (Joe), Paul Jackson Jr., William Jackson (Mikayla)

His siblings: Fred Jackson (Lorrie), Clay Jackson, Brenda Jackson Lyon (Andy), Debbi Jackson Orme (Lynn)

His many grandchildren and great-grandchildren

And many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Evans Mortuary. Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service in the Evans Mortuary Chapel led by the Rev. Nancy Coleman. Family and friends will gather at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery; 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway; Knoxville, TN 37920 for funeral services and interment with full military honors by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard and U.S. Navy. Evans Mortuary in Rockwood, Tennessee is serving the family of Mr. Paul Wayne Jackson, Sr.
