Person accidentally sends police officer a text message about “smoking”

(Gray News) – A Mississippi police officer is being praised for his sense of humor after he gave a hilarious response to a person who accidentally texted him about smoking.

On Friday, Gulfport Police posted on Facebook a text exchange between one of their officers and a person who believed the two had texted someone they knew.

The unidentified person began the conversation around 10 p.m. on Friday.

“Do you want to smoke?” was the text.

In response to the invitation, the officer wrote: “I don’t think I can smoke with you.”

The person replied, “Brother, we smoke all the time.”

The officer then informed the person that he or she most likely had the wrong number.

Again the person persisted and replied with the words “Brother, stop shitting”,

After the person repeatedly insisted that he had the right number, the officer decided to prove the fact that he was not the right person by sending her a selfie wearing his uniform and badge.

“No hat,” the officer wrote after sending the photo.

Alongside the screenshots, the department wrote on Facebook: “Pro tip: double check the number before sending the text. Nothing makes someone’s day like a text from the wrong number. #WeHaveJokesToday #Friday #CheckThisNumberBut

After the post was shared, many people praised the officer’s response in the comments.

“No capping. Just copping,” said one user.

Another user commented: “This is awesome lmao. Should have said ‘Cap? I’m a detective not a captain!'”
