Pixel Wallpaper app gets a revamped UI for Android 15 QPR1 beta

Google released the Android 15 QPR1 beta a few days ago. The firmware is the first test build of the upcoming Pixel Feature Drop update. According to recent reports, the company is working on refreshing the operating system with UI optimizations and new animations. Pixel Wallpaper is one of the apps that shows a new design in the latest Android 15 QPR1 beta.

Pixel Wallpaper is an app that lets you set your favorite wallpapers and tweak other things on Pixel devices. It basically acts as a customization hub and goes a bit beyond its original purpose. From there, you can change lock screen shortcuts, tweak the style of the clock on the lock screen, and more. That said, it looks like Google is revamping the Pixel Wallpaper app’s UI in favor of a better user experience.

Google may revamp Pixel Wallpaper app with first Android 15 Pixel feature drop

As Android Authority has spotted, the Pixel Wallpaper app looks different in the Android 15 QPR1 beta. The new look isn’t available by default, but the source managed to enable it. While there are still a few things that aren’t working, the report gives us a hint of what to expect. Since the changes are available in the QPR1 beta, they probably won’t be included in the first stable build of Android 15. Users would have to wait at least until December for the first Android 15 feature drop to roll out.

According to the source, the new design will allow switching between lock screen customization and home screen customization by swiping instead of tapping tabs. As for lock screen clock customization, all styles will be available on a bottom sheet. Previously, you had to swipe left and right on a style carousel. The bottom sheet now also includes the lock screen clock color and size options. It looks like Google is bundling several options in this section so they are easily accessible.

The color accents customization section of the UI looks different, as it includes two rows of options instead of just one. A better zoom effect improves the display of color palettes and previews in light/dark mode. You can check out the differences between the current and new designs of the Pixel Wallpaper app in the video below.
