Planetarium shows planned at York Learning Center in September

The York County Astronomical Society offers Saturday morning and afternoon programs for young children and families, as well as Saturday evening programs for older family members, at the York Learning Center Planetarium.

The planetarium is located in the York Learning Center at 301 East 6th Ave. in York.

Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. Admission to every second or third show is $1 each. Cash and most credit and debit cards are accepted, a news release said.

Reservations for private shows start at $40 for up to 60 people.

This month, the society is presenting a children’s program: “One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventures and Rusty Rocket’s Last Bang.” For older family members, there is “Onward! To the Moon and the Sun, Our Living Star.”

Here is the schedule for Saturday, September 7th:

10am — One world, one sky

10:30 am – Max flies to the moon

2pm — One world, one sky

2:40 p.m. – StarWatch

3:20 p.m. – Rusty Rocket’s last bang

7pm — Forward! To the moon

19:40 – StarWatch

20:20 – The sun, our living star

Founded in 1989, the nonprofit York County Astronomical Society aims to promote interest in astronomy, educate the public, and advance its development.

In addition to planetarium shows, the association regularly offers public sky observations and astronomy courses.

Tax-deductible donations are welcome to continue public programs.
