PlayStation players surprised with free game, no PS Plus required

PlayStation gamers will soon be able to grab a free game and no, a PlayStation Plus subscription is not required.

However, if you have a PlayStation Plus subscription, you may already own the title in question.

If I said the phrase “PlayStation Splatoon,” what would you think of?

Earlier this year, Square Enix released its version of the Splatoon formula with Foam stars.

The paid live service title launched as a day-one title on PlayStation Plus, allowing users to get it for free for a limited time.

If you missed it or didn’t have a PlayStation Plus subscription, Foam stars would cost you £24.99.

That’s still the case today, but in just a few weeks you’ll be able to grab the game for free.

Yes, in a move that will surely come as no surprise to anyone, Foam stars has officially announced that it will be free-to-play.

Check out Foam stars in action below.

The change is set to take effect on October 4, at which point both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users will be able to get the game for free.

Additionally, you don’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription to enjoy the online character.

“Previously, a PlayStation Plus subscription was required to play Foam starsAfter the price change, consumers who do not have a PlayStation Plus subscription will be able to download and play Foam stars free of charge,” it said in a statement.

If you have already paid for the game, you can receive a Legacy gift that includes 12 Bubble Beastie skins in color variants, a Slide Board theme, and the “Legacy” title.

I think this is a great move for the game. You just have to look at how Fall GuysThe number of players increased dramatically for a while after the switch to free-to-play a few years ago.

I tried Foam stars myself and I must say, I had more fun than expected.

Smash the Star was by far the most fun mode in my opinion, the only thing that really stopped me and my friends from coming back was the fact that the matchmaking took so long between the fairly short matches.

The wait started to feel like a chore, but hey, after the introduction of the free-to-play model, that might not be a problem anymore.

If something is free, it’s always worth a try.
