Pokemon Go players demand Niantic to “do better” with Triumph Together

Pokémon Go’s team-based Triumph Together event kicked off on August 23, but the Premium Timed Research Ticket it came with sparked heated reactions in the gaming community.

Triumph Together requires trainers to complete various goals over seven days to unlock rewards. This part of the limited-time affair is free and promises guaranteed XL Candy, double XP, and Stardust for spinning PokeStops and hatching Eggs when each milestone is reached.

The paid portion of the event costs $4.99 and includes:

  • Two Premium Battle Passes
  • A rocket radar
  • A super incubator
  • A bait module
  • Encounters with Pokémon in team leader costumes and more

However, reactions to the package were negative, with players calling on Niantic on Reddit to “do better.”

“This is the worst ticket I’ve ever seen,” wrote one angry fan, adding, “They even lowered the stardust price of the last ticket they gave out.”

The ticket provides access to encounters with leaders such as Elekid, Lapras and Ponyta.

Responses were similarly unimpressed, with several expressing disappointment in particular that event Pokémon are locked in research, raids, or eggs instead of appearing in the wild.

“It seems like there weren’t many special wild spawns in any of the events last season. About half of them had everything locked behind field research. It feels like things are getting worse,” complained one responder.

“So they’re recycling the free research spawns from April-May 2023 into a $5 ticket,” read another, referring to Pokémon Go’s similarly themed Rising Heroes event.

Running until Friday, August 30, Triumph Together is likely the last major event for Pokemon Go’s Shared Skies. The Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics of Generation 8 are expected to take center stage when the next season begins in September.

There’s still plenty to do in the game until then. Xerneas and Mega Salamence have returned to raids until September 3, with a chance for both to become shiny upon successful completion. Check out the full August schedule for more details.
