Pokémon TCG Pocket releases new cards

The Pokémon Company has introduced brand new cards for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. The reveal includes a first look at an Articuno Ex card and full-art versions of Squirtle and Pidgeot.

The annual Pokémon franchise show, the Pokémon World Championships, kicked off recently in Honolulu, Hawaii. There were also several non-competitive events and surprises as Pokémon fans got a glimpse of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (Bag) App, which will be released later this year. At the event, fans were able to open Genetic climax Card packs that will help launch the new card app. While several cards used artwork from physical card sets, they got a look at the new cards, including the Articuno Ex card as well as full-art versions of Squirtle and Pidgeot.

Like others Pokémon Trading Card Game (Bag) Cards, the new Articuno-Ex, Squirtle and Pidgeot cards seem to use similar mechanics as the original Pokémon Trading Card Game App. Articuno ex gives two prizes when eliminated, just like Pokémon Ex cards in the original game. However, the cards generally seem to have lower HP and lower energy costs for moves, which may have a positive effect on game speed.

According to current information, the annual McDonald’s and Pokemon The TCG collaboration, which usually takes place in August or September, will likely take place later this year. McDonald’s in France will run its annual Pokémon TCG promotion from December 4 to January 21, 2025. A Pokémon TCG fan site, PokeBeach, reports that the French McDonald’s usually gets the crossover about a month or two after its U.S. counterpart. That means the American promotion will launch sometime in October or November. Pokémon has not yet confirmed any U.S. release details, but PokeBeach says more information should arrive in the following months.
