Mention popular trading card games (TCGs) and Pokemon is sure to be on the list. The hobby based on the long-running franchise has spawned many competitive challenges over the years, but there’s also a casual element to it – collecting, just like the way the Pokédex works.
Come October 31Android and iOS device users can build their collection and digitally duel with Pokémon Trading Card Game (Bag). Those who can’t wait to get in on the action can pre-register now on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The announcement will be made during the 2024 Pokémon World Championships, which will take place August 16-18 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
This follows an initial reveal during this year’s Pokémon Day, which took place in early February. The mobile title, which touts “exciting new visual effects for cards that are only possible digitally,” allows players to open two booster packs for free every day, use binders or display boards to show off their collection, enjoy casual battles alone or with friends, and collect cards with nostalgic illustrations from the past and new designs exclusive to the game.
Pokémon Trading Card Game (Bag) will be released as a free app on October 31st, making it more accessible to the masses, especially fans who have always wanted to experience the hype. The physical card game originally launched in 1996 and involves collecting cards featuring your favorite animals, building powerful decks, and engaging in strategic battles against opponents.
