PS5 controllers now work even better with your PC

Sony is expanding its reach into the PC gaming world with the launch of the new PlayStation Accessories app. The new application allows gamers to fully customize the DualSense Edge controller right from their Windows PC.

PC gamers can adjust stick sensitivity, button mapping, trigger dead zones, and more with a range of customization options previously only available on the PlayStation 5. These customization options bring the PS5’s premium controller experience to a wider audience, making it a compelling choice for PC gamers looking for a high-quality controller with a wealth of options.

Interestingly, the application itself isn’t entirely new. As Tom’s Hardware notes, it’s essentially a revamped version of the older “Firmware Updater for DualSense Wireless Controller.” The update introduces a completely redesigned user interface and adds the ability to customize the DualSense Edge when paired with top-of-the-line gaming PCs.

If you use the standard DualSense controller, firmware updates will still be supported, but customization options will remain reserved for the DualSense Edge.

In addition to customization, the app allows for up to 30 profiles, allowing players to create and switch between different setups for different games or genres, whether they’re immersed in a fast-paced shooter or a methodical RPG.

Sony’s foray into the PC market with the PlayStation Accessories app is part of a broader strategy to expand its ecosystem. This move follows previous initiatives, such as the launch of former PlayStation exclusives such as Ghost of Tsushima – Director’s Cut And God of War to the PC and signals that Sony recognizes the growing importance of the PC gaming community.

By allowing PC gamers to use and customize PlayStation hardware, Sony is not only catering to a new segment of gamers, but also creating a more unified gaming experience across all platforms. With the PlayStation Accessories app setting a new precedent, it’s possible we’ll see more cross-platform features or even new hardware designed for both PlayStation and PC gamers.
