QC Botanical Center hosts Pay What You Want Days

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) – The Quad City Botanical Center is offering guests a discretionary admission price to the gardens in the hopes of giving every community member the opportunity to experience all that the summer gardens have to offer.

The “Pay What You Want” event will take place Friday through Monday, according to a press release from the Botanical Center. The public is welcome to attend during general hours, which are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in observance of Labor Day.

Regular admission is $9 for adults 16 and older, $6 for youth ages 2 to 15, and infants under 2 are admitted free, the press release said. Members always receive free admission.

The Botanical Center’s summer highlights include the Children’s Garden’s adventurous water play area with the new Storybook Landscapes exhibit, the Garden Glass exhibit featuring glass art by local artists at Hot Glass, colorful prairie gardens with perennials and wildflowers that attract butterflies, a whimsical fairyland called Pat’s Garden, reflection ponds and an indoor tropical sun garden with a waterfall, officials said.

The garden railway exhibit will be open for Pay What You Want Days on Saturday and Sunday, and trains will run weather permitting, officials said.

Ask for scavenger hunt lists at guest services at the entrance, officials said. Most guests enjoy a one-hour visit. When visiting the nursery, most guests spend one to two hours at the water feature.
