Mr. Radford Wayne “Rat” Cope of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Cumberland Valley Manor & Rehab in Burkesville, Kentucky, at the age of 85 years, 4 months, and 5 days. He was born on Wednesday, April 5, 1939 in Edmonton, Kentucky to Berlie & Bertha (Smith) Cope. He was of the Christian faith, attended White Hill Church, and worked as a truck driver for the Rich Lumber Company. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant son Phillip Cope and his brothers Bedford Cope, Bradford Cope, Lonnie Cope, and his little brother Otis Cope.
He is survived by his wife Marie “Mama” (Polston) Cope, whom he married Sunday, May 7, 1995, his children Terry Cope, Larry (& Marcie) Cope, Jeff Cope, Shelia Farlee and Sherry Morgan, all of Burkesville, Kentucky, his sisters Linda Brown and Glenda Wisdom, both of Edmonton, Kentucky, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and special friends, Molly Davis, Glen Garner, Jeff Hunley, Delmos Carter, James Kerr, Bob Branham, Randy Abston and Morris Ray “Socks” Riddle, and his special sons Billy Bob and Joe Bob.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of the Norris-New Funeral Home. Brother Gary Cash will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of the Norris-New Funeral Home until the funeral service on Friday afternoon. Interment will be in White Hill Cemetery.
