Recordings of Drake’s rehearsals for Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You” appear in the “100 Gigs” archive

Deep in his “100 Gigs” collection, footage of Drake rehearsing a Michael Jackson cover has surfaced.

On Tuesday, the 37-year-old released “100 Gigs on Your Headtop,” a collection of archival footage, photos and other content spanning at least 13 years, including three never-before-heard collaborations with 21 Savage, Young Thug and Latto.

Among the gems in the “Air Drake” folder is the file C0037 36.mp4, in which Drizzy rehearses a cover of MJ’s 1979 hit “Rock With You,” complete with a floor that lights up beneath his feet in a nod to “Billie Jean.”

The full 8-minute clip appears to have been recorded during a technical rehearsal or soundcheck of the Aubrey & the Three Migos Tour in 2018, just months after the release of Drake’s Scorpio and Migos fell Culture II. In case you weren’t sure, this was also around the time the rappers released “Walk It Like I Talk It.”

Drake’s version of “Rock With You” also contained elements of “Don’t Matter to Me,” a collaboration between Scorpio created using one of Jackson’s unused vocal sessions.

Although he had previously announced that “summer vibes” were on the way, Drake announced at a concert in Toronto last Friday that his collaborative album with PartyNextDoor would be released “when it gets a little chilly.”
