NDMC carries out repair work on Ashoka Rd

New Delhi: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) begins Repair work To Ashoka Street from Monday to September 10. On July 7, a portion of the road near the Jaswant Singh roundabout collapsed and the civic body was unable to repair it because it required closing an entire lane.
Due to the repair of the sewer by NDMC, one lane on Ashoka Road from Jaswant Singh roundabout to Windsor Place roundabout will be closed, the civic body said in a public notice.
“There will be one-way traffic on Ashoka Road from Windsor Place towards Jaswant Singh Chambray,” NDMC said.
On July 7, a section of the road collapsed near the junction opposite Le Meridien and on July 10, another section collapsed near a bungalow on Ashoka Road. An NDMC official said that work was underway but would take about 25 days. The old sewer lines on this section had collapsed and needed to be repaired properly, he said.
“Commuters travelling from C-Hexagon India Gate to Windsor Place are advised to use Kasturba Gandhi Marg and reach Windsor Place via Firoz Shah Road,” the Delhi Traffic Police said in its statement. TNN

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed authorities to stop movement of heavy vehicles during peak hours on highways connecting Mumbai to Thane, Raigad, Palghar and Nashik. He also ordered the use of advanced technology to repair potholes quickly. The restrictions are aimed at reducing traffic congestion and will be enforced through temporary parking and notifications from Friday morning.
