Repair work on highways in north central Idaho begins today

Repair work on highways in north central Idaho begins today

Starting today, several key culverts will be rehabilitated at multiple locations along U.S. Highway 95, State Highway 8 and State Highway 3. To extend the life of the culverts, they must be repaired.

The repairs will be carried out in the following order and at the following locations:

  • SH-8 just past Troy at mile 16
  • SH-3 between Kendrick and Deary at mile 27
  • US-95 south of Grangeville and near White Bird Grade at mileposts 238 and 239

Motorists should exercise caution when driving through the construction sites. Crews will attempt to minimise impact on traffic and most work should be carried out away from the carriageway.

Each culvert should take about a week to complete before crews move on to the next. Repairing all culverts is expected to take about a month.

Culvert liners will be installed and scour holes repaired. Additionally, some trees may be removed and rocks placed to protect the inlets and outlets. These works will ultimately extend their useful life and avoid more extensive repairs and traffic disruptions in the future.
