Report: Drake helped Venezia football club avoid bankruptcy

It seems Drake’s relationship with sports isn’t as cursed as his fans would have him believe. Apparently, there’s one sports franchise that has benefited tremendously from his association with the “It’s Up” rapper.

In an interview with GQMatte Babel, a member of Drake’s management team, claimed that the rapper helped save Italian football club Venezia from bankruptcy. According to the newspaper, despite the organization’s support in their home country, the funding was not quite enough.

During the meeting, Babel spilled the beans. Babel revealed that after the owner Brad Katsuyama called Drake, he immediately intervened to close the million-dollar hole.

“Drake’s value to any football club is undeniable given his global superstar status and brand reach,” said Babel. “That intersection between culture and sport is exactly where we want to be and as a sports organisation, the opportunity to leverage a brand like NOCTA that also toes the same line is incredibly valuable.”

As of today (August 9), Babel claimed that Drake’s backing helped raise $40 million for Venezia Football Club. The cash injection will allow Venezia Football Club to discover new talent while investing in its new facilities so the club is ready for action in the 2027/28 season.
