Restaurants in the Phoenix metropolitan area win the award for best gluten-free bakery, pizza and cider

USA Today announced the winners of its 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards and three Phoenix metropolitan area companies won in the gluten-free category.

10Best winners are first nominated by a panel of industry experts and then put out to the public for four weeks of voting. Gluten-free categories include best cider, best cidery, best beer, best bakery, best pizzeria and best overall gluten-free cuisine.

Winners in the gluten-free category in Metro Phoenix included a veteran-owned cider house in Mesa, a horror-themed bakery in Chandler and a family-owned pizzeria with multiple locations in the Valley.

Here are the gluten-free winners of USA Today’s 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards 2024.

Best Cider: Mango Foxtrot at Cider Corps

One of Cider Corps’ most popular flavors is Mango Foxtrot, a semi-dry rosehip cider with 6.8% ABV. Like all Cider Corps flavors, it is labeled gluten-free.

Best Cider Maker: Cider Corps

Cider Corps, a veteran-owned cidery in Mesa, was named one of the top 10 cider makers in the country. In addition to the Mango Foxtrot, Cider Corps also makes passion fruit, orange and guava varieties, Sangin Sangria and a Palmer with black tea, lemon and peach, all gluten-free.

Best Gluten-Free Bakery: Spooky’s Swirls

A returning winner in the Best Gluten-Free Bakery category, Spooky’s Swirls is a gluten-free bakery that specializes in horror-themed treats, including cupcakes, cookies, pizza, and their most popular item, cinnamon rolls. Owner Lola Forbes has also appeared on the Food Network’s Halloween Baking Championship.

Best gluten-free pizza place: Spinato’s

A family-owned pizza chain with multiple locations throughout the valley, Spinato’s offers many gluten-free options on the menu, including three gluten-free pizza crusts: 10-inch gluten-free, 8-inch cauliflower, and 10-inch chicken keto.
