Road in Ipoh closed for repairs after soil erosion

IPOH: Jalan Kamarudin Isa in Fair Park will be closed to traffic to allow for repair work near the bridge following soil erosion there.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the lockdown would begin at 7pm on Sunday (25 August) and last until midnight.

“The closure only affects the section from the traffic light junction at Jalan Ghazali Jawi towards Jalan Raja Ashman Shah (Jalan Hospital).

“The section from Jalan Raja Ashman Shah to Jalan Ghazali Jawi remains open,” he said in a statement.

“We advise motorists to plan their journeys and use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion,” he said, adding that complaints had been received from the public about the erosion incident.

Cracks and potholes have reportedly appeared in a section of Jalan Kamarudin Isa due to erosion of a nearby embankment, causing concern among the local community.

Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin had said the erosion was due to dredging work carried out by the contractor for the construction of the inlet structure at the mouth of the enclosure at the dam.

He said construction on the intake structure is expected to be completed within a week.
