Lucknow: The Ministry of Rural Water supply has threatened to take strict action against agencies that fail to Repair roads for the laying of pipelines under the ‘Har Ghar Nal Scheme‘.
Such agencies can be blacklisted and their contractors can even be put in jail. senior engineers will have to expect a suspension.
“More than a dozen senior engineers have faced action for not repairing roads after installing pipelines and for misreporting connections. Most of the complaints are against eight senior engineers in Purvanchal, six in western UP and three in Awadh region. These engineers have been given an ultimatum to improve their work culture and resolve all complaints promptly. If there is no improvement, the department will initiate suspension action against them,” an official said.
As per the directions of the department’s principal secretary Anurag Srivastava, senior engineers and contractors have been entrusted to complete the repair of the roads cleared for laying the pipeline by October 3, the beginning of the festival of Navratri.
In addition, in projects where household faucet malfunctions (FHTC) have been reported but water supply is not assured, an immediate and regular supply of chlorinated water must be ensured, the letter states.
State Drinking Water Board Managing Director Brijraj Singh Yadav has written to the chief engineers of Jal Nigam Rural and the contractors of Jal Jeevan Mission, directing them to repair all roads before Navratri and ensure regular water supply to the associated villages.
