Robert F. Kennedy will not be on the Ohio ballot after suspending his presidential campaign

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy will not run in Ohio, according to Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose.

Kennedy suspended his election campaign on Friday and endorsed former President Donald Trump.

“My office has received a formal written confirmation from the Kennedy campaign confirming his withdrawal,” LaRose posted on X. “He will not appear on the ballot in Ohio.”

Kennedy was certified for the Ohio ballot earlier this week along with other independent candidates. The candidates certified for the Ohio presidential election are:

  • Donald J. Trump and JD Vance (Republican)

  • Kamala Harris and Tim Walz (Democrats)

  • Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat (Libertarian)

  • Richard Duncan and Mitchell Preston Bupp (Independent)

  • Peter Sonski and Lauren Onak (independent)

  • Jill Stein and Anita Rios (Independent)

Not many polls have been conducted in Ohio, but an August 18 Rasmussen poll showed Kennedy with 4% support, Trump with 50% and Vice President Kamala Harris with 42%.

Kennedy’s support was at 4% nationally in an Ipsos poll this month, and his campaign appeared to be running out of money, according to Federal Election Commission filings released this week. At the end of last month, Kennedy’s campaign owed nearly $3.5 million and had just $3.9 million left on hand.
