Rockland Public Library celebrates Library Card Registration Month

ROCKLAND – Celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month this September at the Rockland Public Library. The library invites everyone to discover or rediscover the resources and opportunities available to the public by signing up for a library card.

“The Rockland Public Library is a treasure trove of information and more than just books,” RPL said in a press release.

The library offers a wide variety of public programs, book clubs for adults and teens, story times for children, author talks, musical performances and more.

“A library card is not required for browsing, programs, and events. However, it is required to borrow from our fantastic collection of print books, as well as thousands of audiobooks and e-books (and more) courtesy of Hoopla and the CloudLibrary,” RPL said.

Want to try a new hobby or learn a new language? According to the press release, RPL has the resources you need, including a weekly French group. Need help with a school project or have a technical question? Book one of the librarians to help you. Want to get out and have a chat? Join the Wednesday Walkers, get some exercise, enjoy the fresh air and make new friends.

When you sign up for a library card in September, you’ll automatically be entered into a drawing to win a fantastic prize. If current cardholders bring a friend to apply for a new card, they’ll be entered into the drawing. Patrons with expired cards can renew their account and will also be entered into the drawing. Winners will be randomly selected on September 30th.

People who live or own property in the City of Rockland, as well as members of the Coast Guard stationed in Rockland, are eligible for a free card. Thanks to the Friends of Rockland Public Library, children and teachers in Knox County through 12th grade are also eligible for a free card.

Non-residents pay an annual fee of $45 (for an individual or family card), and there is a short-term 3-month membership for $25. Please bring a photo ID and proof of your current physical address (bill, checkbook, lease, etc.) to obtain a library card.

“There is truly something for everyone at the Rockland Public Library,” RPL said. “Getting a library card is easy and everyone should have one. We hope to see you soon.”
