The Rutgers University football season has finally begun.
The Scarlet Knights open their 2024 season today at 6 p.m. against Howard at SHI Stadium. It’s their first game of a season that could be memorable if all goes well for Greg Schiano’s team.
After a 7-6 record last season, including a win in the Pinstripe Bowl against Miami, the team returns a top running back in Kyle Monangai, who led the Big Ten in rushing last season, as well as the main part of a stellar defense (though linebacker Mohamed Toure will miss the season with a torn ACL) and quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis, who transferred from Minnesota and earned a spot in the starting lineup after spring practice.
So the Scarlet Knights have everything in its place.
