Sadie Sink, who played the character Max in the last three seasons of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, recently hinted about her character’s journey and fate in the upcoming final and fifth season after Max went blind and fell into a coma in season 4.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Sadie Sink, who will reprise the role of Max Mayfield in the final season of Stranger Things, talked about her experiences filming the series, which is now finally coming to an end.
Sink told the outlet that it’s “super positive” since it’s the final season and they “really want to savor every moment.” The actress added that they all want to enjoy their time together and deliver a season that “everyone’s kind of been waiting for.”
Meanwhile, series creators, the Duffer brothers, recently confirmed to Variety that the “Dear Zoe” actress will play a “role” in the new season. Ross Duffer mentioned that they don’t want to reveal how this is possible since her character Max is “in a coma.”
Matt Duffer, on the other hand, praised Sinks’ acting skills, saying she has become more confident as an actress and in her choices, before revealing that they recently filmed a scene with her that was “absolutely heartbreaking.” He said, “I don’t know how she hits those notes.”

In a previous interview with Vulture, Sadie Sink spoke about her experience playing Max in Stranger Things. The actress shared that her journey on the show has been “rewarding” since she joined as a young character in season two. She said that at this point in the series, she feels “lucky” to have this storyline and a character with such “great development,” and that it’s fulfilling to receive a positive response from fans.
Sink mentioned that she always felt like the “new kid” on the show and that being able to showcase Max’s strength and perseverance was a proud moment for her, something she didn’t expect during filming.
She explained that being part of such a large ensemble show, you never know what to expect from the script or what acting skills you’ll be able to showcase each season. The actress said she was glad the Duffer brothers “trusted” her with this material for season four, noting, “I wanted to do the best job I could for them and do Max justice.”
Seasons 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Stranger Things are now available to stream on Netflix. However, a premiere date for season 5 has not yet been set.
