BMC officials said that tenders will be floated and repair work will be carried out as per availability of funds, which will have to be approved by the state government. “All 41 wards of BMC, spread across Salt Lake and Rajarhat Gopalpur, will be covered. However, we need at least a week’s dry time to carry out the repair work at places where the earlier repair work has worn out,” said an official of BMC’s road department.
Residents are disappointed with the progressive deterioration of roads in the municipality. “The condition of many stretches of roads has deteriorated without any repairs. It is extremely risky for motorists, especially motorcyclists who can lose control if they do not drive very carefully,” said Kawshik Dutta, a resident of Salt Lake BD block who rides a motorcycle.
