Samsung’s new cheap phone could become a flagship killer if…

Samsung could be about to shake up the Galaxy S24 carousel by launching a new phone that’s cheaper but comes with some specs that surprise those of a flagship.

Samsung’s Fan Edition devices follow the example of the Galaxy S models, but come out about 6 months later in the year. They stick to the core specs and make a few compromises to offer a great phone at a great price. It’s the definition of a flagship killer and poses serious competition for those top phones.

A new report from Android Headlines sheds light on some important details about the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE. The Galaxy S23 FE had a 6.4-inch display, but it looks like that will be expanded on the S24 FE. With the 6.7-inch diagonal, it is also said to have a peak brightness of 1,900 nits, which should boost outdoor performance and be great for HDR content.

This would put the new Galaxy S24 FE in competition with the Galaxy S24 Plus, which also has a 6.7-inch display, but with a brighter 2,600 nits. With larger displays becoming more popular, the Galaxy S24 FE could be the phone of choice for many who want a bigger screen experience.

The camera is said to be similar to that of the S24 Plus and will feature a 50-megapixel main camera with 3x optical zoom and ultra-wide angle, while the battery is also slightly larger.

The new phone is expected to be available in blue, green, black, graphite and yellow, and some of them will likely be exclusive to Samsung’s website.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE gets Galaxy AI

Samsung’s new affordable flagship will also benefit from Galaxy AI. Samsung has been pushing Galaxy AI as its main feature for 2024. It made its debut in January and has been introduced on some existing devices – including the Galaxy S23 FE – with plans to land on cheaper phones soon.

But it also seems that this phone will get all the Galaxy AI features that came with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, which means this new Samsung phone will likely launch with One UI 6.1.1.

These include Portrait Studio, Sketch to Image, Reply Suggestions, and a few other features. Depending on the launch date, this could put this phone a step ahead of Samsung’s current flagship phones that are still waiting for One UI 6.1.1.

According to a recent leak, the Galaxy S24 FE could be launched soon and if all these specs turn out to be true, it could be one of the best phones for budget-conscious buyers.
