BEMIDJI, Minn. – Sanford Health welcomes Aviskar Sharma, MD, an internal medicine specialist, to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center, 1300 Anne St. NW, in Bemidji.
As a board-certified internal medicine physician, Dr. Sharma diagnoses and treats a variety of conditions in adults during hospital stays at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center. He coordinates patient care with their physicians and other specialists at the hospital.
Dr. Sharma attended medical school at Manipal College of Medical Sciences in Pokhara, Nepal and completed his residency in internal medicine at Loyola Medicine-MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois. Dr. Sharma was named Resident of the Year and also received the Smooth Operator Award during his time in the MacNeal Internal Medicine Residency Program.
In his free time, Dr. Sharma enjoys playing football, guitar, traveling and trekking. He is from Pokhara, Nepal, near a mountain called Machapuchare, where there is a beautiful valley with seven lakes. He has visited the base camps of Annapurna and Mount Everest.
“I want to advocate for patients, optimize hospital efficiency, and facilitate a smooth transition to outpatient care,” said Dr. Sharma. “I find fulfilling educating patients about their hospital stays and making a meaningful impact on their lives.
