Sauce Walka questions Drake’s support for Houston

In 2015, Houston rapper Sauce Walka had a serious beef with Drake, mainly over the Toronto star’s Houston Appreciation Weekend. Sauce felt that Drake was capitalizing on Houston’s culture without really giving back to the city’s artists. He didn’t hold back, accusing Drake of, in his own words, “using our culture for lyrical content and giving nothing back except a family fun day and some money for some hhe makes jokes in the club. This ban**** makes music with artists from everywhere but Houston.” The situation escalated to the point where Sauce released a diss track called “Wack 2 Wack,” in which he rapped over Drake’s instrumental “Back To Back.”

The tension between the two seemed to have subsided earlier this year when they were spotted chatting at Area 29, a strip club in Houston, suggesting they had resolved their differences. However, recent comments from Sauce have brought these old issues back into the spotlight and raised questions about whether the peace between them will last. DJ Akademiks shared a clip in which Sauce once again criticized Drake for not collaborating with Houston artists despite claiming to support the city’s rap culture.

Sauce points out that while Drake has worked with big Houston names like Travis Scott, Bun B, Pimp C, and Beyoncé, he hasn’t done much to help lesser-known artists in the city. Sauce believes that if Drake supported these up-and-coming talents, it could lead to major music festivals like Rolling Loud coming to Houston. While Sauce’s recent comments could just be a reflection of past frustrations, it will be interesting to see if this reignites their old conflict.
