Sea Dogs finally beat Rumble Ponies in 11 innings to claim their fifth consecutive win

The Portland Sea Dogs went eight innings scoreless, tied the game in the ninth to force overtime, then blew a two-run lead in the 10th before securing a 6-4 Eastern League victory over the Rumble Ponies in 11 innings on Wednesday in Binghamton, New York.

In the 11th inning, automatic runner Drew Ehrhard scored on a triple by Alex Binelas to break the 4-4 tie. Binelas scored on a sacrifice fly by Elih Marrero and the Sea Dogs won their fifth straight game.

The Sea Dogs scored two runs in the ninth inning, forcing overtime. Nathan Hickey scored first for Jhostynxon Garcia with a double. Phillip Sikes came in as a pinch runner for Hickey, went to third base on a wild pitch and scored on a fielder’s choice by Ehrhard.

In the 10th inning, automatic runner Corey Rosier advanced to third base on a groundout by Ahbram Liendo before Kristian Campbell hit a two-run homer to left field for a 4-2 lead. Wyatt Young’s RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning brought Binghamton within one run. He then scored on an RBI groundout by Jeremiah Jackson to keep Binghamton in the game.

Portland starter Hunter Dobbins threw six scoreless innings, with three strikeouts and one walk. He was replaced by Alex Hoppe, who allowed two runs on Young’s two-run single in the seventh inning.
