Sean Price “Flame to Flight”

On August 17th, Sean Price will give a demonstration of how he creates his hummingbird sculptures from flame-worked glass. This fascinating demonstration involves working with various colors of glass while it is still molten.

Thirty years ago, Sean traveled to Hawaii to visit his sister who worked at a glass gallery and studio in Lahaina. He was amazed at how glass could be manipulated with a flame to create delicate, multi-colored sculptures. Soon he was living in Hawaii and apprenticed with master craftsman D. Duncan. In 2020, Sean returned to the Chattanooga area where he continues to work with fire and glass.

“I’ve been making glass sculptures for three decades,” says Price. “I’m still as enchanted as when I first started my journey. Every day I think about what I can create with my torch. I’m just a boy who likes to play with fire!”

Don’t miss “Flame to Flight” on August 17th from 12pm to 4pm.
