Selling at NYC street festivals will soon be a little easier

CITYWIDE — NYC CHANGES ITS RULES to remove the requirement that sellers obtain a temporary general sales license at street festivals. According to the Ministry of Consumer and Worker Protection, obtaining a temporary sales license is a unnecessary step for street fair vendors because it does not impose any new requirements on the vendors, who are already overseen by the city’s Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO). “In addition, this license may cause confusion for vendors who otherwise require a regular general vendor license to vend publicly outside of the street fair context,” the city’s regulatory office said.

The new rules come into force on August 30th.
