Severe thunderstorm warnings in force

A severe weather warning has been issued for Livingston County until 6:00 p.m., for Lapeer County until 6:15 p.m., for Washtenaw and Oakland Counties until 6:30 p.m., for Southern Sanilac, Macomb, St. Clair and Wayne Counties until 6:45 p.m., and for Lenawee County until 7:00 p.m.

A line of severe thunderstorms is moving through southeast Michigan Tuesday evening. These storms could bring damaging wind gusts of nearly 70 mph and possibly 1-inch hail, as well as an isolated tornado.

More showers and storms are likely in the early hours of Wednesday, some of which could be heavy to severe. These storms will redevelop upriver, northwest of us, and move into southeast Michigan after 3 a.m. Wednesday morning. Damaging wind gusts near 60 mph, hail, flash flooding and an isolated tornado are possible. Get weather alerts overnight and do not rely on outside sirens.

More showers and thunderstorms are likely Thursday through Friday before a high pressure system builds in over Labor Day weekend. The sun will return and temperatures will be between 27 and 25 degrees.

Tonight: Strong to severe storms possible. Humid with lows around 21 degrees. Wind: SW 5-15 mph.
Wednesday: Partly sunny with a chance of thunderstorms. Highs between 30 and 35 degrees. Winds: WNW 5-10 mph
Thursday: Partly sunny. Slight chance of rain. Highs around 80°. Winds: East 5-10 mph.
